How to Activate Ancestry DNA Kit at ancestrydna.com/activate?

If you have recently purchased an Ancestry DNA Kit, you will need to activate it before using it.

The standard shipping delivers DNA kits usually within ten business days. However, if you have opted for expedited shipping, you can expect the delivery within three business days.

After receiving the kit, you need to activate the Ancestry DNA kit at ancestrydna.com/activate and return your saliva sample to the state-of-the-art lab in a prepaid package.

Guide to Activate Ancestry DNA Kit at ancestrydna.com/activate

Before you activate the Ancestry DNA Kit, consider the following:

1. When you activate your DNA kit, it connects to your Ancestry account. If you don’t have an Ancestry account, you can create one for free by visiting ancestry.com.
2. Until you get your test results, keep your activation code safe.
3. Any adult taking the test must ensure that they activate it in their Ancestry account. Only one DNA kit can be activated for an account, except for the test of minor children.
4. If you are looking to create an Ancestry account, you will need an email address. If you don’t have an email address, or if the email address is already associated with an Ancestry account, you must create a new email address.

Activate an Ancestry DNA Kit

1. Open the Ancestry DNA kit activation page ancestrydna.com/activate.
2. On the activation page, click Sign in to activate your DNA kit. If you don’t have an account, click Create a free account now.
3. Sign in using your Ancestry account credentials.
4. Click Yes if you are logged in to the same account you want to activate the kit. However, if not, select the No button and sign in.
5. Now, enter the 15-digit activation code located on your collection tube and click Next to link your test results to your Ancestry account.
6. If activating a kit for yourself, select your Name and tap Next. Similarly, if looking to activate a kit for your minor child, tap the My child option and follow the guided instructions. On the other hand, if you want to activate a kit for another adult, tap Someone else and follow the on-screen prompts accordingly.
7. Then, enter your Birth Year in the provided box, select Gender, and click Next.
8. Then, go through the DNA Processing Consent, select the Review and Consent option, and click Next. 
9. On the next screen, click I give consent if you wish to store your sample with Ancestry. Otherwise, select I do not give consent and tap the Next button.
10. Please go through the research participation policy, and select the checkbox next to I have read the Informed Consent. You can then choose between “I give consent” and “I do not give consent.”
11. Then, click Yes if you like to see your DNA matches and get listed as a match. Otherwise, click No, and tap Next.
12. Now, select your Name from the prompted box if you want your DNA matches to see your name. However, choose your username if you want your DNA matches to see your username. Then, tap the Next button. (You will not see this option if you selected not to be listed as a DNA match in the previous step.)
13. Then, select the “Show my complete ethnicity estimated and communities” option if you want your DNA matches to check all the regions and communities in your ethnicity estimate. Alternatively, select the “Show only what we have in common” if you want your DNA matches to see only the attributes that you have in common.
14.  After that, tap the Next button.
15. In the Kit Notifications section, select Yes and type your mobile number to get text updates about the status of your kit. Press No if you do not want them. Afterward, tap Next.
16. Next, tap Yes to receive weekly emails about new information and relatives as per your DNA results. Otherwise, select No if you don’t want such weekly emails. Then tap the Next option.
17. Review your provided information thoroughly in the Review section and click Submit and activate.

After successful activation, you can check the status of your DNA kit anytime by visiting the DNA tab and selecting the “Your DNA Results Summary” option.
